It is also known as <strong>igo<\/strong> (Japanese),  <strong>weiqi<\/strong> or <strong>wei ch&#8217;i<\/strong> (Chinese) or <strong>baduk<\/strong> (Korean). Go is noted  for being rich in strategic complexity despite its simple <a title=\"Rules of Go\" href=\"\/wiki\/Rules_of_Go\">rules<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The game is played by two players who alternately place black and white  <em>stones<\/em> (playing pieces, now usually made of glass or plastic) on the  vacant intersections of a <a title=\"Grid graph\" href=\"\/wiki\/Grid_graph\">grid<\/a> of 19\u00d719 lines. The object of the game is to  control a larger portion of the board than the opponent.
